Filling In

As you can see, the top floor living spaces are getting filled in. Some new concrete was laid in the bathroom, and the pocket doors are being fitted out for the master bedroom entrance and closet. Also in the master bedroom is a set of shelving which will live behind the bed.

Parlor and Kitchen Progress

Certain parts of the parlor floor are now taking shape, with gypsum board being installed in the kitchen area and hallway. The lighting above the kitchen workspace is going in, and as you can see, we look forward to washing the whole area with light. Because we elected to not break through the back brick wall of the house to install an additional window in the kitchen, the comprehensive lighting will be a welcome feature we believe. We still think that at some point a window may go in, but we're going to live with the space for a while to get a feel for what makes sense. Also saves us a little cash at the moment. Which is key.

Heat and Hot Water

We've filled up the small mechanical room with our new furnace and hote water heater. Good thing we're not installing it, there are just a few too many parts on that plywood to make us comfortable.

Closing The Studs In

Top floor is being closed in gypsum board. Still some electrical being installed, and of course heat still going in.

Ahh... Heat

Heat and electrical is going in at a fearsome pace. Copper sculpture for our hot water system can be seen here.

English Basement or Boerum Hill Cellar?

You see the mechanicals room on the right here in the cellar, with the exit to the garden in the back. There are also two windows. It is a terrific bonus of living space. In fact, it makes you wonder why there might not be a variance for this living space to be used as kitchen or bedroom or otherwise, as the light and air is so good. The plumbing on the left will be turned into a bathroom of a toilet and sink. Will be most convenient to not have to climb three stories to relieve oneself during a bbq.

View from the Bathroom

Not so sure about that aqua color, but pleased with the studs and gypsum board.

Kindof a Mess Right Now

...but check it out: plasterboard, electrical, lights, and hot water heating going in!

When You Need To Level...

...just shim it!

Building Excitement

...among other things. You'll see the pad in the bathroom -- in advance of tile. You'll also see the central closet areas (two closets, one per bedroom) and a linen closet area as being constructed with the studs. The second bedroom has been wall boarded. The insulation roll is in the master bedroom. Electrical is being installed, and you can see the central skylight which is over the staircase.

Bedrooms Taking Shape

More impressively, there's a new roof and structure, as well as skylight and hatch, and studs, and electrical! Oh, and drywall is going in!

Leaps and Bounds

The fireplaces are fabulous. We will be stripping the paint off soon. You can see one of them here, and the other is under the stuff in the other photo. The third picture is of hot and cold water risers, and then the hot water heating system going in.

While We Were Away...

...the elves came out to play! And boy, were they productive! Have a look: starting at the bottom. You'll see a new 200 amp electrical service, new concrete pad, and plumbing for a half bath...
